Engine Failure Ends Jesus Racing’s Weekend
An engine failure in the opening lap of race 1 has forced the Jesus Racing XY GTHO to the sidelines for the remainder of the round, unfortunately the extent of the damage will force the team out of the Muscle Car Masters at Sydney Motorsport Park in a month’s time.
Having fixed a previous engine problem overnight the team were confident of producing another great weekend result after a trouble free run in qualifying that saw Andrew “Fishtail” Fisher post the 12th fastest time.
After getting away to a reasonable start in the opening race, Fishtail noticed a small miss just prior to the final turn but looked down to see all oil pressure and other sensors were running fine. Unfortunately, as soon they came through the final turn and onto the main straight the engine went off with a bang ending the race and weekend.
“It’s very disappointing way to end our weekend and unfortunately it has done a lot of damage,” said fishtail. “We will look at different options now and most likely move from the wet sump engine to a dry sump engine moving forward.”
The team is hopeful of getting back on track for the Bathurst 1000 event in early October!
