Positive day in Sydney Heat

In what was a very hot Sydney day, Jesus Racing improved from their qualifying position to finish the opening 2 races in 10th and 8th positions respectively, with some lightning starts helping to move Andrew “Fishtail” Fisher up the grid.

Starting from P12 Fishtail leaped off the line passing 3 cars by turn 2 and was settling into a good rhythm when the safety car came out.

After the restart Andrew was fast and had great gains on cars under brakes but had to drive through mid corner understeer which allowed McLeod to slip underneath the Jesus Falcon into turn 10, with Fisher ultimately bringing it home in P10.

Unfortunately this move resulted in more than a one spot result as the reverse grid ball drawn for race 2 was number 9 meaning that Fishtail missed pole position by that spot!

Race 2 started in much the same way with Fishtail getting off the line very well before going very deep into turn 1 around the outside of championship contenders Miedecke and Harris.

Fishtail was able to hold his own and pull a small gap on the cars behind during the race to finish in position 8. This was a very good effort as the car still didn’t feel good and the team finding post-race that the brake pads were completely cooked.

“We had a long brake peddle before the race even started,” commented Fisher. “We were able to get a good start again which definitely helped us as the car wasn’t 100% and the brake pads cooking definitely didn’t help. The boys will get this sorted for tomorrow and we’re looking forward to one final race of the year!”

Fishtail will start the season finale from position 9 which can be seen live on Fox Sports and on Channel 10. To keep up to date throughout the day, visit the Jesus Racing Team facebook page.
