Trophy Race Win for Jesus Racing

The Jesus Racing Team have taken their maiden win in the highly competitive Touring Car Masters Series beating home Mark King and Motorsport Hall of famers John Bowe and Glenn Seton in the Trophy race at Sandown today.

It wasn’t all smooth sailing throughout the day though as Andrew “Fishtail” Fisher was run off the track at the start of race 2. Fisher got the iconic Ford Falcon off to another great start moving into 5th position through turn 1. Unfortunately, he was run off the track heading between turns 1 and 2 which dropped the Jesus Ford down to around 13th position. Fisher kept pushing and was able to gain a few spots throughout the race to finish in 10th position.

With the new grid structure for the TCM Trophy race being put in place, Fisher would line up on the outside of the front row in 2nd position. Fisher got the jump and moved straight across and into the lead of the race. With the XY GTHO being very fast Fisher was able to get his head down and gain a 2 second lead before then monitoring the gap to Mark King who was in 2nd place throughout the race.

Fishtail resisted the pressure from King and fast finishing legends of John Bowe and Glenn Seton and managed to bring it home for the team’s first ever win in the Touring Car Masters Series.

“What a great result for the entire team!” said an ecstatic Fisher. “The boys have worked hard for this one so its great to see this paying off. We got a good jump and when I saw King behind I was hoping he would back off a bit at the end… He kept at it though so we were pushing all the way to the end!”

This result gave the team 3rd overall for the weekend in the pro-am class and a good bank of championship points.

The team has a short break now before they head back down south to Phillip Island as they bring out the Jesus Ute for it’s first run of the season.
