Great result – Day 2
Fishtail start Race 1 from 5th position after a great qualifying session yesterday. Still getting used to driving Mary, the SLR5000 the team has leased for the weekend, he was hoping to get a good start and to be able to hold position throughout the race. Fishtail managed to move into 4th position on lap one and then slid into 3rd position 2 laps later.
With some clear track in front of him he put his head down and managed to break the lap record which was set by Ryan Hansford in yesterday’s race. He got to within 1.2 seconds of John Bowe in 2nd place however had really worked his tyres to get there and unfortunately was not able to really place any pressure from behind. Both Hansford and Bowe also broke the lap record with the later ending out both the victor of the race and the lap record holder.
Speaking after the race Fishtail said, ‘What a great result for the team, it has been a long time since we have been able to match the pace of the front runners and today we were able to drive away from the guys behind us and to record a great 3rd place.’
It was an easy day for the team today with only the one race however tomorrow will be fast and furious with two races the first being at 8am and the second just after 10am.
