Moving up to ProMasters
Day 2 was a good day for the Jesus Racing Team. Starting in 6th for the reverse grid race Fishtail managed to get a good start and finish in 3rd place just 0.7 seconds from the lead. Speaking after the race Fishtail said “we had the pace to win that race but unfortunately 5 laps under the safety car meant that we were left just short of the win. We managed to break the lap record in the race so that was pretty cool”.
In the first offical race of the weekend Fisher started in P3, with John Bowe not starting due to engine issues Andrew was able to get the jump from row 2 and take 2nd position into the hairpin on the first lap.
Fisher and Johnson left the rest of the field behind as they pushed hard at the front, both breaking the lap record on Lap 3 with Johnson being 2 tenths quicker. Fishtail did his best to keep pace with the 750 horse powered Mustang but Johnson was able to just edge away and by lap 10 had a 1 second lead over Fisher.
Just after this there was oil sprayed all over the circuit and both Fisher and Johnson had to adjust their lines so as to miss as much of the oil as possible. The rest of the race was really just about bringing it home and so in the end Johnson won by 1.4 seconds over Fishtail in 2nd place.
It was a great result for the team and capped off a strong day.
We look forward to reporting to you from day 3.
