Pole Position for Jesus Racing
It’s always a great feeling driving in the front gates of the Bathurst circuit. Whilst the atmosphere at the Bathurst International event is not on the same level as the Bathurst 1000 the track doesn’t change and never disappoints.
The Jesus Racing team had chosen to leave Abigail (their XYGT) at home and to once again race Mary the Holden Torana SLR5000 owned by fellow competitor Jim Polocina.
Fishtail was 4th fastest in practice 1 which was a great result and as the cars headed out for qualifying the rain started to fall. All the cars were on slicks on what was now a wet track however the rain was light and as the session got going the track started to dry out.
About halfway into the session there was a red flag which means the session is stopped and all the cars had to come back into pit lane. With about 3 minutes left to run the cars were released on what was a drying track and it was clear that it was going to be a one lap dash with whoever was willing to lay it on the line coming out on top.
Fishtail went out about mid pack, he made some room for himself and then drove the wheels of the car to take out his first pole position in the Touring Car Masters Series.
Speaking of the session Fishtail said, “what a great result for the team, I knew I had to leave nothing on the table, i t felt fast but I didn’t expect to be on pole so what an amazing feeling”.
The team will now line up last in the reverse grid race before starting off from pole position in the first official race of the weekend.
We look forward to providing an update again tomorrow.
Please keep Andrew and the team in your prayers.
